In the news this evening, the battle of the NRM ticket for Lwemiyaga Constituency in Sembabule district between Long time Member of Parliament Theodre Ssekikubo and Rt Brig General Emma Rwashande took a dark turn leading to the death of a young man during campaigns.

Campaigns turned bloody when the rival supporters clashed in a venue meant for Ssekikubo who were blocked by those of Rwashande. Soldiers attached to Rwashande led by a one captain Ziwa reportedly started firing bullets which killed a 25- year old man known as Alex Ssembuusi.

In the scuffle, another supporter was injured while MP Ssekikubo also got shot though he didn’t get injured severely. This violent incident has informed the chaos that have already dominated the polls in Ssembabule over the years.

Rwashande Vs Ssekikubo is a battle that will turn heads in the NRM primaries scheduled to take place in the second week of July 2025.
