A police boss has been remanded to prison for stealing building materials worth 17 million from a construction site in Wakiso district in 2023 until recently when he was arrested and arraigned before court.
The accused in SP Begira Avido who is Police’s human resources officer at the Wamala region was nabbed by the State House Anti Corruption Unit together with the CID and presented before the Makindye Magistrate’s Court to answer the charged.
It is alleged that on February 10, 2023, at Kanaaba Zone in Makindye Ssabagabo, Wakiso District, using impunity, the accused stole building materials, including iron sheets, poles, and bags of cement, valued at approximately 17 million shillings from a one Kato Bumali.
The police boss was remanded to prison until 19th June.
Last evening, SP Begira Avido, a Police human resources officer at the Wamala region, was arraigned before the Makindye Magistrate’s Court by @AntiGraft_SH, working with @ODPPUGANDA and @CID1_UG, on charges of theft. He has been remanded till the 19th June, 2025.
