Breaking News: Gov’t Suspends Controversial EPS After Public Uproar

Government of Uganda through the Ministry of works has ultimately suspended the implementation of the Express Penalty System (EPS) which had caused tension and panic among motorists over express tickets that were raining on their phones.

The decision to suspend the EPS follows protests from motorists who questioned the system’s implementation and unrealistic penalties and other factors. Much as the motive was in good faith to counter road carnage, the implementation looked like a government’s cash cow to exploit Ugandans.

In an a social media post on the Ministry of Works handles, government has suspended the system to comprehensively review the complaints and how to bring it back better for all road users.
