Financial Greed, Indiscipline, And Corruption With Impunity, Three Black Holes In Uganda’s Economy

Uganda’s intended boost for the industrial revolution and emancipation of her economic development has instead, in a nutshell, become a bottomless pit and symbol of the top most elite corruption and impunity of siphoning away hard-earned taxpayers’ monies through a deliberately weakened system that allows the flight of money.

Money laundering has thrived, because of the poor safeguards to check the flight of money into and out of the country. A strong living example is the gold business which is now among the top-traded commodities for the country. If Uganda could borrow a leaf from Gen. Kagame, we wouldn’t have had such a poorly planned capital city, smelly hospitals with poorly managed public amenities in the countryside.

When I hear those bragging about the development index, I wonder where they go to do their benchmarking. We have a lot to learn from our sister neighbor, Rwanda.

Sometimes when Gen. Muhoozi comes out to make a stun warning against the corrupt, it sounds like ‘Uhuru’ has come. Unfortunately, the next day you find yourself in the same Uganda.

Even the briefcase investors have continued to abuse this so-called ‘flawless’ system that should be checking the huge colossal of money escaping the country.

It becomes very difficult to develop when we continue to allow greed to overdrive our financial obligations and responsibilities.
