Following a revelation by the Deputy Attorney General Jackson Kafuzi yesterday that Besigye’s file had been successfully transferred by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), a production warrant was issued yesterday evening.
Dr. Kiiza Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale have been produced before the Chief Magistrates Court in Nakawa and slapped with treason charges. The cases in the charge sheet this publication has seen looks a bit similar to the one’s the General Court Martial had initially charged Besigye with.

“COL (RTD) DR. KIZZA BESIGYE, HAJJI OBEID LUTALE, RO/12743 CAPTAIN CHARLES OOLA and others still at large between the year 2023 and November 2024 at various places/ countries including Geneva Switzerland, Athens in Greece, Nairobi in Kenya, Kampala in Uganda, contrived a plot , act or matter by force of arms to overturn the Government of Uganda as by law established and expressed or declared such a plot, act or matter by utterances and overt acts”-reads part of the charge sheet
The new charge sheet however is missing possession of fire arms which he had earlier been charged by the General Court Martial. He’s instead facing treason charges after thorough review of his file by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
