Chaos and confusion took centre stage in Butale, Kaddugala in Masaka city as thousands of mourners converged to say good bye to a politician whom every one described as a leader of the common person.
Two burial functions were organized; one organized by Mathais Mpuuga on behalf of parliament where Ssegirinya was an MP for Kawempe North and another at Ssegirinya’s ancestral home by his party the National Unity Platform.
Politics took it’s course as politicians used Ssegirinya’s burial to claim supremacy. Police and army who had come to take Ssegirinya’s body to the parliament’s designated ground were blocked by the NUP foot sojaz as the claimed the police and army tormented Ssegirinya and so they had no business with his body.
The state burial was attended by some mourners as speeches took place though majority of the mourners thronged the home function which was majorly attended by opposition politicians and are the one’s who witnessed as Ssegirinya was taken to his permanent home of no return.
NUP principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu in his speech revealed that the Museveni government is solely responsible for Ssegirinya’s death. He said the state used the Masaka bijambiya to frame Ssegirinya and even failed to bring evidence after two years to pin him yet they knew who the killers are.
