As court scheduled on 10th December last year to have Dr. Kiiza Besigye and his co-accused Hajj Obed Kamuregeya to return on 7th January 2025, the military court martial sitting at Makindye is back in action.
It was good news to Besigye after the Uganda Law Council issued a temporary practicing license to their lead counsel and Kenyan politician Martha Wangari Karua who is also present at court today. Karua had re-applied for for the license on 23rd December 2024 following a rejection of the previous one on several grounds.
Court returned today but the hardliner lawyer Eron Kiiza who has been vocal and tough in the General Court Martial on the defense team of Besigye has been arrested and added in the dock with his clients.
After his arrest, court was briefly adjourned for 30 minutes to allow the military to clean the commotion caused as Besigye’s supporters and lawyers were left in utter shock and confusion.
