In the news this morning, former Vice President of Uganda Dr Specioza Wandira Kazibwe was last evening rushed to hospital after being involved in a motor accident along the Jinja- Kayunga road in the areas of Wakisi.
According to police, the front tyre of the Toyota Land Cruiser in which Dr Kazibwe and Louis Igapira Wandira, 17, were driving raptured before the driver, Fred Kayongo veered off the road and rammed into the pole.
Specioza Naigaga Wandira Kazibwe now 70 years was the first female vice president of Uganda, she was also the first woman in Africa to hold such a position in a sovereign state. She was appointed by President Museveni in 1994 until 2003 before being replaced by Prof Gilbert Bukenya.
