Lubowa Hospital is not a familiar name to Ugandans who have been following events since 2019. It’s a specialized hospital where parliament has approved appropriated and pumped over Shs700 billions since 2019 but until recently, it had been on the foundation level and was even bushy with no construction activities taking place.
Due to the slow works at the Entebbe road based hospital, several attempts by Members of parliament including Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Acheng, another visit early this year by the Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi were all faced with resistance and heavily armed UPDF and Police officers.
The last planned visit by the Muwanga Kivumgi led COSASE committee was also met with resistance and even suspended indefinitely by the Lubowa Hospital construction bosses. These told Muwanga Kivumbi and his team to wait until the management buys them protective gears.
It however now happens that the blocking of visits by legislators was aimed at buying time and do something from the foundation level which the site had been at for almost four years which raised fears of financial mismanagement. Legislators were question where all the money appropriated to the construction of Lubowa Hospital was going.
Minister for primary Health Care Margret Muhanga who made a site visit to the Construction Site of Lubowa Hospital has posted some photos showing serious construction activities taking place. Muhanga who also met Museveni’s Italian Investor whom she described ‘combative’ says the hospital will be partially open for patients next year 2025.
