Kenya’s president William Samoei Ruto fired his entire cabinet after deciding to listen to the GenZ who launched a scathing protest against his government at the instigation of the controversial finance bill which he later declined to sign and even withdrew it.

Withdrawing the bill which had caused fury and unrest in Kenya seemed to have not been enough as Kenyan youths continued outlining more demands to President Ruto telling him to step down from power.

Ruto later had an engagement with the Kenyan youths on X formerly Twitter and announced several changes including dissolution of 47 government agencies and budget cuts on several ministries including his office of the president and that of the office of the first lady [His Wife].

As the tension continued souring as the youths announced more days of protests on the streets dubbed #OcuppyStatehouse #OcuppyCBD #OccupyEverywhere, Ruto also had a time to think and reflect and consequently he ended up sending his entire cabinet home and only retained his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

Ruto however only read from the books of history of Kenya and pulled off the same solution that ex and late 3rd president of Kenya H.E Emilio Stanley Mwai Kibaki did and also fired his entire cabinet in November 2005 just a day after a humiliating defeat over a proposed constitution in the first ever referendum in Kenya.

“Following the results of the Referendum, it has become necessary for me, as the President of the Republic, to reorganize my Government to make it more cohesive and better able to serve the people of Kenya,” Kibaki said.

“I have directed that the Offices of all Ministers and all Assistant Ministers become vacant. Consequently, the occupants of the said offices cease to hold their respective offices with immediate effect,” he said.
