In a rather dramatic turn of events, Christians mostly those from the Pentecostal churches in Bushenyi district led by Bishop Adam Nkwatsa have launched a long five days of intensive and non stop prayer and fasting to seek divine intervention for their leaders.

These who will be calling on the Holly spirit every day and night are doing this for their member of parliament Micheal Mawanda [Igara East] who is facing corruption related charges regarding the controversial Shs164billion alongside other MPs Mudimi Wamakuyu and Paul Akamba on the said charge sheet.

Mawanda was the 4th MP to be arrested on corruption related charges after Cissy Namujju [Lwengo District], Paul Akamba [Busiki county] and Yusuf Mutembuli [Bunyole East] who are equally facing corruption related charges. These are accused of soliciting a 20% kickback from the enhanced budget of the Uganda Human Rights Commission’s boss Mariam Wangadya.

There arrest followed comments by President Museveni who said there’s a racket of corruption with in parliament, ministry of finance and accounting officers who inflate budget figures including their cut for passing such budgets.

However, President Museveni and Speaker of Parliament Annette Anita Among are both reading from different scripts regarding corruption. Museveni condemns corruption while Anita Among says it’s okay to be corrupt as long as you share the loot with your people and don’t eat alone.

Reports indicate Ugandans are scheduled to peacefully match to parliament on 23rd next month July in protest of the too much reported corruption at parliament which came to light at the instigation of the #UgandaParliamentExpo.

Micheal Mawanda, Mudimi Wamakuyu and Paul Akamba are set to appear in court for their bail hearing early next month while Mutembuli and Namujju were already committed to the High court to face trial.
