The day 9th June every year for the last 35 years has been commemorated in Uganda as National Heroes Day where those who fought alongside Museveni in the jungles of Luwero are remembered and those present tell stories of the bush war.

The former Kadogo were present at the event and these begged Museveni to do something for them to uplift their life. A case in point a former Kadogo who operates from the Kampala old Taxi park begged Museveni to buy him a new Kamunye which they president said he will get it soon.

At this 35th Heroes Day celebrations at Mpenja Church of Uganda primary school play grounds in Gomba District, Museveni awarded 53 medals. Among the awardees was Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Jumah Al Maktoum from the United Arab Emirates who was awarded the Distinguished Order of the Crested Crane 1st Class Medal.

There’s however this video which that has elicited Mixed reactions. In the video, Rev Bishop Micheal Lubowa of Central Buganda is seen requesting Museveni to get him a new vehicle since the one he has is worn out. The man of God also goes ahead to remind the president that 2026 is approaching and he needs to get there when he has a new ride.

“President after the prayer, allow me to inform you that they’re many things we think you can handle if you allow me tell you PS my few words to you but my vehicle is now old and it won’t complete 2026 and as you know we are entering 2026, May God bless but give us the PS and we tell him her our requests”- said the Man of God

Politicians especially from opposition have lashed at the Man of God who has been the Anglican Church Bishop for Central Buganda since January 2017 when he was consecrated and normally every Bishop receives a brand Land Cruiser from government whenever on the day they’re consecrated reportedly to ease their pastoral work.

“Without shame, Rev. Bishop Micheal Lubowa requests Gen. Museveni for a new vehicle, reminding him that the 2026 election is close. This is what the dictatorship has done to Uganda. How is such a person expected to condemn corruption and oppression on God’s people by the same regime he begs for favors?”-Posted Bobi Wine

Against all odds, Christians in Gomba opposed the election of Bishop Michael Lubowa as the new Bishop to replace Rev Bishop Jackson Matovu who had served for 16 years some time back. These at the time claimed Bishop Michael Lubowa who is a son to the Diocese Pioneer Bishop George Ssenabulya was unfit for the position.

Severally Christians have lately had time to oppose Bishops elected the Anglican’s House of Bishops. This has happened in Kigezi, Luwero and even Namirembe causing deep rifts in the church.

  1. Church leaders who seek economic gain from their positions or who seek economic support from political corrupt leaders in their church are unable to condemn corruption because they benefit from it! They are bribed and silenced by corruption promoters in Church and State. How sad! These greedy and corrupt Church leaders are part of the new Ugandan culture of corruption presided over by President Museveni! For instance, parliament members are overwhelmed by corrupt thieves among their ranks and most of them lack the courage to sanction corrupt theives among them! The president should set a good example by firing many of his corrupt thieves and confiscating the looted money and acquired property through corruption and fraud 🤥.
