It’s a state of pain and grief in Malawi after authorities finally located the plane carrying Malawian Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima which went missing yesterday after efforts by Malawian aviation authorities went unsuccessful since Monday morning.
In a statement released by the president’s office in Malawi, the Vice president was traveling with nine other passengers at the time the aircraft went missing. It’s also reported that the Defence Force Aircraft left Lilongwe at 9:17am but failed to make it’s scheduled landing at Mzuzu International airport at 10:02am.

The president Lazarus Chakwela who also cancelled his trip to the Bahamas had ordered regional and national forces to conduct an immediate search and rescue operation to locate the whereabouts of the missing aircraft.

Now reports coming in from Malawi indicate that the aircraft has been found but with no survivor. It was carrying the vice president and nine others including the former First Lady Shanil Dzimbiri.
These were to attend the funeral of a prominent lawyer and former Attorney General and Justice Minister Ralph Kasambala in Mzuzu 387 Kilometers north of the capital Lilongwe. Citizen Posts has now gathered that the Dornier 228 Military plane was found in the Chikangawa Forest in the early hours of Tuesday.

In a Televised address by Malawi’s president Dr Lazarus Chakwela which was live on MBC, he revealed that everyone on board the place has been killed and their remains are being carried back to Lilongwe. The president said he’s sad and Malawi had lost a great leader and servant.
This incident comes barely a month after Iran’s immediate past President Ibrahim Raisi succumbed in a chopper crash at the boarder of Iran with Azerbaijan. On 18th April, Kenya’s Chief of Defence Forces Gen Francis Ogolla also perished in a chopper crash in the Elgeyo Marakwet County.
