When President Museveni stormed the streets of Kampala with his rebels in 1986 after taking over the government of the day, he came through with 100s of fellow bushwar colleagues whom he appointed different juicy jobs to run state affairs.
Forty Years later, some have died, some are still alive but have disagreed with him while others are still siding with him to run government and in the army. Among those who are still siding with Museveni include Gen Katumba Wamala, Kale Kayihura among others.
Those who have disagreed with him include Gen. Mugisha Muntu, Col Kiiza Besigye who have since joined politics, formed political parties and contested against Museveni in different elections.

At some point Gen. Tumukunde and Kayihura disagreed with Museveni and were tried by the General Court Martial. For Gen. David Sejusa he wrote a letter to media in 2013 alleging a secret plot with in the Museveni establishment to groom his son to take over power in what he termed the MK project.
This letter about MK project caused trouble for Nation Media and Red Pepper who faced closure for some time as government demanded to have the letter by Sejusa who had fled to exile. He later returned and is among the many army Generals who have been retired in the last 5 years.
What started as a rumor later turned into reality as the MK project headed by Museveni’s son also the Chief of Defense Forces took shape and even launched a political bus dubbed the Patriotic League of Uganda which brings together those aligned to a Muhoozi presidency.
As things unfolded, one army General who is still serving in government as Minister for Internal affairs Gen. Kahinda Otafiire has consistently been against a Muhoozi presidency saying they didn’t fight to turn Museveni into a King asserting that presidency is not Kingship that your Child succeeds you.
Otafiire has consistently said that Ugandans should be given chance to have a president away from the Museveni family after the current President finally makes up his mind to throw in the towel.
A week ago, Otafiire appeared in a video saying that he doesn’t hate Museveni’s son Muhoozi but he just dislikes him as president. Reacting to this, Muhoozi says that let his father Museveni decided what they should with Otafiire and it would take him half a second to arrest the veteran army officer.
Let Mzee decide what to do with Hon.Otafiire. It won’t take us half a second to arrest him.
