In the news this evening, police have reportedly broken into the National Unity Platform headquarters in Makerere, Kavule in Kampala in an operation that’s set to shake political battle lines ahead of the 2026 General Elections.

This development has been shared by Bobi Wine and several of his party supporters who had earlier reportedly significant army and police presence around the party offices, roads leading to Makerere among other major roads.

According to reports, a similar operation is currently underway at the NUP school of leadership housed in the party’s former headquarters in Kamwokya. Decrying the raids, Bobi Wine has revealed that his life is in danger after non uniformed security operations are reportedly patrolling his home and also trailing his movements.

This comes a time of renewed and forced abductions of his party members just like it was the case towards the 2021 general elections. Bobi Wine’s eldest  brother Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu alias Chairman Nyanzi was taken captive on Monday as he returned form the party. He has since been dropped at his home this evening.

Mercy Walukamba who heads the party’s electoral management Committee and three others were also taken captive on Tuesday as they returned from a funeral in Masaka. They were reportedly held at the CMI headquarters in Mbuya and later dumped at the SIU Kireka before being released.

Joel Ssenyonyi, the Leader of Opposition in parliament has also decried the extreme of the Museveni regime is handling opposition politics. Ssenyonyi says searching the party headquarters in the absence of any any party members might end up planting their own exhibits and claim they found them inside the NUP offices.
